Synopsis

Featuring an all-deaf cast, the film showcases authentic Auslan and Japanese Sign Language throughout. From beginning to end, it offers a genuine portrayal of deaf life, focusing on the characters’ everyday experiences, relationships, and cultural environments.

 

Robert Hoskin is an Australian filmmaker with more than 50 years of experience in the film industry across Australia and Japan. During his time in Japan, he met his partner, Yasuko Tsuchiya, a deaf Japanese actress who stars in the feature film Two Is Too Many.

Two Is Too Many was shot entirely on 35mm film and later edited in 4K for its Digital Cinema Package (DCP) theatrical release. The film was screened at the 2026 Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema on March 5, 2026, where it received two awards: the Indie Spirit Award and Best International Feature Film.

Hoskin’s extensive filmmaking career and international collaborations have contributed to a body of work that bridges cultures while promoting diverse stories and representation on screen.
