Synopsis
Ray, a deaf man, is excited about moving into his long-awaited new apartment. His friends arrive to help him with the move. While packing up his furniture, Ray stumbles upon a dusty book—a birthday gift from a friend, given ten years ago. Captivated, he begins to read it. Lost in thought, he steps out of the apartment and is struck by a passing car. He loses consciousness.
Ray wakes up in the hospital, only to receive a strange and unexpected visit: the “Deaf Hunter” Massimo, and his boss, Dr. Miller—the leader of a secret empire. Sensing danger, Ray tries to escape but is captured and strapped to a hospital bed.
One day, Ray awakens to find his restraints mysteriously removed. An envelope full of money sits on the nightstand beside him. He has no idea who left it there. Seizing the chance, Ray escapes the hospital. But when he returns to his neighborhood, everything has changed. His friends and his apartment have vanished without a trace. Even more disturbing—he seems to be the only deaf person left.
Ray soon discovers that sign language is now forbidden. In a quiet café, he meets the captivating Chiara, whose deaf parents died in a tragic accident. Together, they begin searching for answers. But they’re not alone. Massimo, the relentless hunter, and a mysterious black-clad man are watching them closely.
The fight to preserve a vanishing culture has begun…
Note: Director Reiner Metz stated that everyone involved in the production was deaf, except for two individuals—Jenny Elvers and Woiff Lindenau.
